Music has always been a part of my life. As I have mentioned, The Beatles were already on my musical plate as were Elton John and Ted Nugent. My memory of a major influence after this probably would be Alice Cooper. I remember seeing him on TV and it freaking my parents out! I immediately fell for his music, his persona and his snake Kachina. I knew at that moment I would be a fan forever - so many favorite songs but Only Women Bleed will always be special to me. Not bad for a 14 year old.
if I had to choose one album that is his pinnacle to me - it has to be has to be From The Inside released in 1978. OMG this album moves me to this day. I think one appeal is it is a concept album and I love concept albums. Tell me a story through common themes. His fourth solo album chronicles his stay in a New York Asylum due to his alcoholism. Each song is based on a character he met during his time there. Another point that brings this album to a higher level is the involvement of three Elton John powerhouses - Bernie Taupin on lyrics, Davey Johnston on guitar and Dee Murray on bass. The first track From The Inside just suits me in so many ways. The final track Inmates to me has always reinforced my belief that people judge others who are different. Check out this wonderful album.
